Varicose Vein Treatment
There are several ways to treat your varicose veins. For years one of the more common treatments was vein stripping. However, recently a new therapy called Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) has emerged as the treatment of choice because of the excellent results and the minimally invasive nature of this treatment.
EVLT involves the insertion of a very fine laser fiber into the greater saphenous vein using ultrasound. As Dr. Fox gently pulls the laser fiber out the laser seals off the unhealthy veins causing the varicose veins to diminish in size.
During the procedure, the involved area of your leg is anesthetized and laser energy is then delivered to treat and eventually eliminate the varicose veins. This relieves the varicose leg pain as well. Once the laser energy has been applied a compression stocking is put on your leg. Walking immediately following the procedure is encouraged and normal activities can be immediately resumed. This is a very quick, minimally invasive therapy which has a low risk of side effects. The results are immediate and visible to the patient. This treatment has proven very effective in eliminating varicose veins and is very safe. This treatment is covered under most insurance plans.
Please note that each patient is different and results may vary depending on the severity and extent of your venous disease.
We also now offer Varithena, a new non-surgical treatment for varicose veins.
